Manitou Incline June 2018

All Pictures are at the bottom of this post.

This is the second year we climbed the Manitou Incline. The Manitou Incline is a set of stairs that goes from about 6,500 feet in elevation to 8,500 feet in just under a mile of distance. For more details read last years post.

The reason we did the climb last year? My dad (Popop) asked to do it. Most people might say wow what a good son, but you need to realize that last year my dad was 85 and this is what he wanted to do for his birthday. He did the hike with his three sons (Hey, that could be the name of a TV show
"My Three Sons").

This caused a bit of a stir for the family dynamics. It seems a few family members felt left out. Lucky my dad is always up for a challenge. The challenge, do the hike again for your 86 birthday, but this time have all your kids, their spouses, and grandkids join you. And of course, do it Faster!!

Mission Accomplished!! Last year Popop did the climb in 2 hours and 40 minutes. This year he finished in 2 hours 24 minutes. Cutting a full 16 minutes off his time. Can you say "Inspirational"? Plus as a bonus, the entire family completed the climb with him.

Now for you couch potatoes reading this. Remember once you do the climb you then have a 3-mile hike back to the car. If Popop can do this at 86, what is your excuse!

I hope you enjoy the pictures. By the way, Popop has already started training for next year. His goal under 2 hours.

Cheers,

DUG
