Fishing - Lake Victoria, Uganda

Remember to vote on DUG’s next big trip! (See tab on the left)

With things humming along in the village I thought I would take the elders on a fishing trip. I really had an ulterior motive, it had been mentioned to me that we should plant some Neem Trees also known as Azadirachta indica this tree is in the mahogany family. Some of the characteristics of a Neem Tree are:

1) Provide shade and are very cool under the canopy.
2) Fruit.
3) Leaves can decompose and add great development for fertilizer.
4) Leaves can be soaked in water and sprayed as insecticide.
5) Seeds can be crushed as healing and antifungal properties.
6) Trees help keep insects away.

The cost to purchase a dozen Neems will be about $56.38 USD which we have covered in our treasury, but I still need the elders to approve the expense. I thought I would take a page out of the US Congress Play Book and use a fishing junket to sway them my way.

As you can see the fishing was great and I got the trees approved.

I am scheduled to head back to the US to compete in the Philadelphia Marathon. Do to some injuries and illnesses I may have to cancel my attendance, more on that later.

Cheers,

DUG
